How to read these data

The reference compares the same type and bedroom count. Your personal budget does not change this sample.

The rental directory accepts several areas within one department, to include or exclude them.

Prices use the neighbourhood stated in each advert. Services and reports are matched only to identified official areas; boundaries may differ from marketing names.

This comparison uses public data. It does not need personal income or addresses.

Rental prices by neighbourhood

One page per neighbourhood with monthly asking rents by property type and bedrooms, plus common charges. In brackets, the adverts measured. The pages are in Spanish.

Cerro Largo

Does it show in the rent?

We compare the asking rent per square metre of 38 neighbourhoods and towns with each neighbourhood figure. Each dot is a neighbourhood: the median of its apartments with a published built area (at least 15 per area).

Areas with more sewerage complaints ask less per m²: from an area in the lowest quartile (21.8) to one in the highest (42.5), rent per m² falls 9.8 % (95 % interval: -19.2 % to +1 %).

This is an association, not a cause: areas also differ in income, distance to the coast and age of buildings, and all these figures move together.

All together

One model with every figure at once (R² 0.64, 36 areas). Each number is the change in rent per m² when that figure rises one standard deviation and the others stay fixed. With few areas and figures that move together, signs can flip: read it as context, not as the price of each service.
